Song and Dance

Is this the Public Broadcasting Service? Surely someone is about to solicit me for a donation. It is not so much a movie as a cluster of musical numbers varying in degrees of entertainment from accusations that Lon Chaney is going to get you if you don’t watch out (probably true) to dated sexual innuendo that hasn’t aged well. Singin’ in the Rain, on the other hand, aged superbly given that I thought that whole pneumonia-inducing interlude all began with Gene Kelly. Speaking of rain games, Joan Crawford showers you with compliments and Laurel and Hardy are there with hats.
