The Lives of a Bengal Lancer
1935 Nominee
100 Words
Three soldiers cross paths in India, two juniors to one senior (that’s Gary Cooper coming in hot, per usual). The language of the locals is easy, but the trio struggles with the language of diplomacy and don’t all charm each other, though they do manage to charm a snake. Mr. Stone is a stone’s throw away from his father, who also might have more luck with reptiles when it comes to communication. A beautiful woman compromises the trio and the mission, arriving with the enemy and an ulterior motive. The rescuers using problematic makeup might make up for rotten mutton.
