Libeled Lady
1936 Nominee
100 Words
“Don’t ever get married,” he says to his assistant as he heads to do the deed and indeed, he was serious this time, Gladys! The ill-timed headlines are accused of libel and the lady will sue, forsooth! William Chandler, that smooth-talking lawyer and Myrna Loy (she’s Connie here) are always a lovely pair – say, weren’t they in the Best Picture winner this year? Gladys catches feelings for the wrong man and that wasn’t part of the plan. When the staged nuptials are called to light, it takes a lot of explanation to maybe make things right, despite all the confusion.
