Based on a true story of a WOMAN in SCIENCE (imagine the sheer audacity), Marie Curie and her husband, Pierre (with no discernible trace of a French accent) discovered the element radium and absolutely nothing tragic happened as a consequence. Not one thing. Not radiation poisoning. Not anyone dying in a traffic accident. Nothing.

Of course, the price one pays for tragedies sometimes does pay off in the name of science, so the least we can do in the future is learn about the errors of our past ways when those who did the hard work have since passed away.

    Much to clarify here. I didn’t realize she lived mostly in France; I always thought of her as ‘Polish’ as she was born in Poland. I also thought she was a ‘young’ women during the onset of WWII, but in fact was born earlier than the turn of the century. I need to check my history facts; think I’ll catch this pic!
