Cary Grant is an angel! He’s arrived to help Julia and her husband, the bishop. Unfortunately, it’s rather hard to help a bishop when he doesn’t know what he wants. While the bishop decides, his wife spends a lot of time with Dudley (Was this a 40s trope to give angels the names of bookish folk?) and he enchants her, buying her a fetching hat and taking her to ice skate with Sylvester.
He’s also Cary Grant.
If the bishop stays stuck in his ways or stuck to chairs with furniture varnish, he might lose the thing he really wants.

    Sounds like a Hollywood borrowing an ‘angel’ idea from the incredibly successful ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ just the year before …
