Cirque du So Lame

The Greatest Show on Earth
1952 Best Picture

100 Words
Brad is obsessed with the circus and is definitely the inspiration for Indiana Jones’ style of dress. An over-acting blonde is determined to get placed in the center ring over the new addition, The Great Sebastian.

A fierce battle ensues for whose act gets to take the spotlight, while a love square develops. Not a triangle. A square.

Meanwhile, a clown is wanted for murder, but Buttons predates the actual murderous clown adjacent to my hometown and frankly, that’s the story I wish carried the movie because it’s a better one.

This movie is almost as ridiculous as the circus.

So now we understand why the cliche ‘a three ring circus’ persists. I do remember seeing this as a kid, and I remember I thought it was corny. At least, there was popcorn.
