On This, Our Wedding Day

High Noon
1952 Nominee

100 Words
The film school teacher that was responsible for showing me Born Yesterday is also responsible for showing me this film in high school.

Gary Cooper is a cowboy and Grace Kelly is his new wife. When Will finds out Frank Miller is out of jail, he has to choose between protecting his new marriage and protecting the town that refuses to help Will.

The alternate title is a play on my favorite line from The Godfather (coming up in 1972) and lyrics from the song that weaves through the movie and will 100 percent get stuck in your head forever.

Oh boy – you had to mention that song! Now, it’ll be ringing in my ears all day! This was a long, slow, boring movie with much uncomfortable tension that had an incredible ending! Did you like it?

I did like it. I thought it told the story succinctly and with just enough tension to keep me invested.
