100 Words: William Holden takes his shirt off and the entire town is driven to madness by Labor Day lust. But this is the 1950’s, so there’s a lot of panning to the moon to indicate…you know…activities done by moonlight. It’s pretty hilarious. The schoolteacher gets hammered and shouts at all the young people. Madge and Millie’s mom essentially traffics Madge so that she can be with a rich man (it doesn’t exactly go that way, don’t worry). It just goes to prove what we who live in them already know: People who live in the suburbs are suppressed and batshit crazy.
