A judge is entrusted with determining the fate of some of Nuremberg’s Nazis. Placed in the roles were well-known, well-liked American actors led by a rather formidable lawyer who snagged the golden boy from under the nose of Spencer Tracy.

What does it mean to be collectively responsible? Were the actions of one persuasive madman enough to condemn an entire people? Do the words of one man implicate a country as a whole if, one assumes, they all supported his pursuit by not standing against him?

What would have been the cost of standing against him?

They could have tried.

    Homo cowardice– within the established gender of guilt, spines wilt in fear;
    that club-corruptible crashes all humane parties
