Based on what I heard, Chick Williams needs an alibi for Friday night. He was at the theater with his get-hitched-quick dodo bird of a wife, Joan. In about five minutes, O’Brien was killed and the coppers – including Joan’s papa – are sure it was recently released (ex?) convict, Chick. Boy broker Billy is quite comically drunk and Tommy the cop wishes Joan would re-consider her stance on the police. Let’s just say that sound editing in the 1920s was a new concept and Joan says something about flowers. Can you hear me now? Nope. Chick doesn’t scream when he falls.
