Arrowsmith
1931 Nominee
100 Words
Doctor Martin Arrowsmith is a one-of-a-kind, bona fide medical professional whose humanitarian spirit is infectious. Even if the subject is cattle, the doc seeks to understand how a virus can be manned and whether the demand for life-saving measures is worth upsetting the vet. With his lovely wife at his side, he is at the forefront of vaccinations (yes, they’re a good thing) and even pulls a tooth or two if the need arises. The only trouble with doctors, see, is that sometimes they’re so busy curing the human condition that the condition of their home suffers in the process.
