Hardly Working

I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang
1932 Nominee

100 Words
Poor James Allen got the blessing from his Mom to find his happiness and found himself on a chain gang. It’s tough to lose it all over a lousy hamburger. A chain gang is no joke; the wardens go for broke and choke any motivation out of all the men sentenced to hard labor. It’s too much work even for the guy looking for work so Allen escapes and finds himself sentenced to a marriage that might be worse than the sentence before it. The question remains with Allen back on the gang: Is he a victim or a criminal?

Sounds interesting! So … just the opposite of what I wrote about the 32 version of ‘Little Women,’ I’m now reading about a ‘Best Pic’ nominee, and I don’t recognize one cast member’s name. Deep down, I know I’m suppose to know, ‘Paul Muni’ but I can’t picture a face, nor could I have named one movie he was in – until now. If you find time in your research, and run into another movie that he’s in you recommend seeing, let me know; in the meantime, I’ll check this one out!
