Who doesn’t love a Myrna Loy and William Powell pairing? Not this dame. A film noir classic with a dog to boot and he is so cute when he tries to attack that balloon from the Christmas tree, The Thin Man might be a vague description, but the movie doesn’t suffer the same fate. A man goes missing and it’s up to Detective Nick Charles to crack the case, but only after that clever wife of his convinces him to take the case in the first place. A case of scotch might disappear, but this at least is no mystery.

    Sight and sound unseen and unheard regarding all the “other” flickers…
    THIS is my favorite to date: The repartee of this active couple serves my utter delight. They epitomize screen synergy.

    That dashing penner Hammett was the best at pumping out pre-WWII private-eye pulp fiction. This movie had two sequels: ‘After the Thin Man’ in 1936, and ‘Another Thin Man’ in 1939 with the same two stars returning. There was also a TV series of the same name that ran from 1957-1959 (72 episodes) starring one of the original Rat Packers, Peter Lawford. The world is a’changing. As far as I’ve noticed, this is the first response to a ‘google’ question I’ve received from AI, and, I cannot EVEN IMAGINE a show, or anything, being called ‘thin’ or ‘thin man’ in this day and age, unless the story revolves around Ozempic.
