The (Second) Greatest Sword Fight of All Time

Captain Blood
1935 Nominee

100 Words
Be still, my heart, for before there was anyone else for me, that someone was Errol Flynn (more on that later). Dr. Blood – perhaps a change of moniker would help the business – is accused of treason and sold into slavery, with those in power questioning obvious facts such as that he’s a trained physician. After a few unsolicited favors from the pretty Bishop woman, this Blood fellow partners with the wrong Frenchman and it is on the beach that they orchestrate the (second) greatest sword fight of all time, following as we all know the one from The Princess Bride.

Yeah – those two had – CHEMISTRY, and truly were dear friends throughout their lives. So – you can still your heart blogger, but I canNOT. Not one female on earth, who ever watched Errol, wasn’t deeply and madly in love with him, including all my aunts, my mother, my friends, my friends’ mothers, my grandmothers, my mother-in-law – his screen presence was more magical than anyone else’s – probably ever. I’ll just go ahead and make my best 1935 selection now, because there’s no way another nominee is going to beat out this amazing classic for me. I probably watched this, in total awe and captivation, 20 times as a child. I assumed the upcoming RobinHood post was going to explain why this was only the ‘2nd’ greatest cinematic sword fight of all time. Guess I’ll have to YouTube the Princess Bride One, as I don’t think that was nominated for best pic. ON GUARD!
