Give a Man a Fish

Alternate Title: Give a Man a Fish

Captains Courageous
1937 Nominee

100 Words
Spencer Tracy is Portuguese? No way, José. The accent is problematic, but the fact that he won for this one is a bit tragic. The kiddo from David Copperfield is equally adorable, though he starts off a bit unlikeable aside from his love of ice cream sodas (Important Question: Are these still a thing and where can I get them?).
The little boy falls off a big boat and ends up learning how to fish and getting a father figure that figures into his life in a positive way. Let’s see if Little Fish’s real dad is here to stay.

     This is the only one on the ’37 list that I’ve seen (a million years ago);
    it’s a memorable hard puncher!

      So far, I highly recommend The Awful Truth. I watched it and went, “Wow, Cary Grant sounds like Tony Curtis in Some Like it Hot,” only to find out that Tony Curtis was intentionally mimicking Cary Grant for the role. 😅

    Because so many of these old movies just don’t draw me, I’m still focusing on the poor quality of the poster print and titles. Your write in nearly tempts me, however. A cute kid in a movie is always good. I think, now, but 1937 we truly are ‘officially’ done with the sawed off black white cutout head shots of cast members on the posters? Please please please! But, for the poster to declare: ‘As great as Mutiny on the Bounty’ is infantile; Really?
