The Casting Couch

Stage Door
1937 Nominee

100 Words
Oh, Kaye. She’s not having a Lucille Ball, although this movie is and she’s hardly in the darn thing at all. Meanwhile, a woman made of ice rooms with the woman whose sarcasm attracts Anthony Powell himself. Ice queen Terry Randall believes that “acting’s only common sense,” so it makes sense to her to rope Powell into a business deal while Jean ropes him into some other sweet deal and Kaye faints in his office waiting for his appointment. Terry fails to heat the room or the stage and if it weren’t for her, Kaye might have gotten another chance.
