Mademoiselle Get That D

All This, and Heaven Too
1940 Nominee

100 Words
Is this too shocking for an alternate title? It refers to the nasty gossip surrounding Bette D in this tale of a governess taken for granted and taken advantage of by the parents of four delightful children. More of a mother than their mother, Mademoiselle D swept into the family and revived an ailing, extremely adorable young lad. Newspapers talked all the smack before the Internet (where I write this exquisite blog) became a thing. Before it swept the Voorhees family in its clutches (no relation to Jason, see Five Star Final), it nearly cost lovely Bette her fictional career.

Bette Davis eyes the kids for their good health, so she deserves all the things (that she wants) …

A bad version of the Sound of Music with the family Voorhees becoming the Von Trapp family? I’ll pass, even the star has Bette Davis eyes, she doesn’t have Julie Andrew’s voice.
