A Mother’s Love

Blossoms in the Dust
1941 Nominee

100 Words
Edna was a real lady and really, she was a movie-worthy lady. She helped start a children’s home in Texas after the untimely death of her baby. This is all after being romanced by a man with a marriage plan named Sam. Her adopted sister’s demise inspired Edna to get wise to the fact of childhood legitimacy and the mess that it may cause to someone, see? This one stole a soft spot in my heart because my big brother is half my brother and half my brother from another father, so adoption surely has its benefits in my family.

If you recall from some of my previous comments, I’m as interested in the progress of movie titles and poster-art through the decades as much as the movie content. This is the first of your posts where I recall seeing the warning: NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN on the poster. If they had had ratings, would you have tagged this as a PG 13?
