The Little Foxes
1941 Nominee
100 Words
You can Bette that this film is another based-on-a-play family drama about money or love (but mostly, money). While the love story is compelling and the acting is superb (another thing you can Bette on), it does get a bit long in the tooth when paired with the formidable contenders of 1941. Reportedly, the love story between the reporter and Alexandra is quite compelling, but the rest is a stress test. It’s a thousand-times-told cautionary tale about choosing the bonds of savings over the bonds of blood. Of course, the Screen Queen herself delivers as always, with Bette Davis eyes.
