Son of a Preacher Man

One Foot in Heaven
1941 Nominee

100 Words
Fredric Marching through this story is a surprising pleasure and that’s coming from someone who isn’t exactly the religious type. The lead from Our Town (it’s not Ann Patchett, though she may as well be) marries a doctor-turned-preacher and rearing their children proves challenging through wartimes and wedding bells and going to the movies. Venting about dad’s vocation is the kids’ favorite pastime, but even a man with a troubled heart can find room in his heart parts for the great big beautiful guy in the sky. Even a heathen like me can see the good parts of this one.

Good pitch and another great alternate title. I’m noticing the movie posters seem to have stopped writing long descriptive sentences about the movie – let’s hope so.
