The Baby was Eugene

The Magnificent Ambersons
1942 Nominee

100 Words
Readers, the alternate title refers to a childhood friend and my ambition to use Barbie dolls to act out the entire plot of Grease. We ran out of Ken dolls and substituted a baby to play Eugene (he’s the nerd). The Eugene in this film is the one that got away for George’s mother after breaking the fiddle and George is the one that got away from his comeuppance (for a time, it seems) for an entire town full of snobs. Only Orson Welles could craft a film about an unlikeable lead that’s so entertaining and beautiful in its darkness.
