War of the Roses

Mrs. Miniver
1942 Best Picture

100 Words
A rose named after a British woman would be as beautiful as she in this World War II film that was made BEFORE THE END OF THE WAR. Hindsight induced a panic attack when it occurred to me that the resolution couldn’t be war’s end because the war wasn’t over! My goodness, Readers, there’s so much to say in 100 words. Greer Garson’s acceptance speech was longer than this blog. She also married her son from the film, which is a bit strange. This movie is a beautiful bit of historical heartbreak and deserved every rosy accolade thrown its way.

Wake-up call! It’s 1942, with 10 nominations for best pic, I’ve seen tons of old movies, yet I can’t include ONE from this list! I WILL see Mrs. Miniver, despite the lousy title, the weak movie poster, and the lame tagline. Love is a rose….
