Family Ties

The Human Comedy
1943 Nominee

100 Words
A dead man explains how the ending is really a beginning as he looks down on his left-behind family – three sons, two daughters, and a surviving wife who plays the harp. In the midst of World War II, growing up in Ithaca is checkered with hard-won races, deliveries of singing telegrams (in front of Hubert), and absolutely frightening shop performers that are trying to sell tonic. It’s all a family can do to work hard, keep their spirits up, and hope that the eldest son makes it home safe, after sharing details of his family with his new friend, Tobey.

The poster resembles a quickly assembled photo-album from a large family. Too many pics scrunched and piecemealed together.
