Since You Went Away
1944 Nominee
100 Words
While the men are at war, the women stay home and try to keep their home together. Mother Hilton and her two daughters let The Pied Piper stay with them as they wait for the patriarch’s safe return. They wait a long time. Meanwhile, the lodger’s grandson sets his sights on Jane, who has her own sights set on Uncle Tony (even though he’s not really her Uncle, it’s a little creepy and confusing). Tony has his own sights set on Jane’s mother, but no matter who loves each other, there’s still a war going on and on and on.
