Sailors’ Delight

Anchors Aweigh
1945 Nominee

100 Words
A musical about the Navy in the year that saw the end of World War II is probably not what the country expected, but certainly something it needed in the midst of all the dramatic themes peppering the screen and daily life. Gene Kelly is in the film, and as is tradition, it features a lengthy dance sequence or two – one of which features a cartoon mouse and may leave you questioning whether you took too many Mucinex (I did, by accident). It’s pretty hilarious to buy into the idea that Frank Sinatra ever had any trouble with the ladies.
