Play On

Henry V
1946 Nominee

100 Words
One of my endeavors this coming year is to attempt to read one Shakespeare play per month until I have read them all (in a few years more). Henry V has not been read by me as yet and this version is…quite something. The colors are jarring, as was custom for the time. Shakespeare is often hard to follow in text, but easier in context; it’s meant to be seen.

Initially, they film a play, but somewhere along the way, the play becomes reality. Laurence Olivier turned movie from play and he may have been a pioneer in this way.

That’s wonderful goal – to read all the Shakespeare plays – think I might ditto that. I’ll try to picture Olivier as I read (I may have to view each one, assuming most have been made into movies) before the read. Read Romeo and Juliet in HS; you’re ‘write’ – the magic of the stage did not translate onto the page.
