Crossfire
1947 Nominee
100 Words
It was a time, following World War II, for many to reflect on the atrocities of the Nazis and to examine the attitudes of the general public toward those who are Jewish. In this story of soldiers being interrogated for the death of a local Jewish man, the crime seems to be that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time with a man whose beliefs matched the losing side.
It features an early appearance by Robert Mitchum, who is somehow not the villain (miscast perhaps, a missed casting opportunity).
There’s not enough mystery in this noir quickie.
