Dance ‘Til You Drop

The Red Shoes
1948 Nominee

100 Words
This movie was made in 1948?! You could have fooled me, and fool me again, you may. It’s incredible. The dancing scenes are exquisite – full body shots of people actually trained in the craft. The music is perfection. The acting is theatrical, yet superb and THERE IS A 15-MINUTE FULL BALLET IN THE MIDDLE. Readers, at least watch that part. You’ll get your money’s worth. Choosing her heart over her art leads Vicky’s former dancing master to the edge of darkness. A woman possessed, Victoria Page dances The Red Shoes like no one else could, or perhaps ever will again.

Women often have to choose between a man/love/marriage/children, but men almost ever have to. Still, a truly lovely movie.
