The Heiress
1949 Nominee
100 Words
Catherine hasn’t got much to offer a match unless her future husband happens to be extra fond of sewing. She’s swept off her feet by the debut of the very handsome Montgomery Clift (and she isn’t the only one). When Morris more or less asks Catherine to marry him, her father is less than pleased at the arrangement given Mo’s lack of financial footing. Catherine’s dad the doctor believes that Mo is getting hot and heavy with his daughter because of her inheritance rather than because he’s really in love with her, but who says that fathers always know best?
