Martin Shortage

Father of the Bride
1950 Nominee

100 Words
There’s a more recent version with this name and they’re almost exactly alike except for one glaring difference that frankly (Frahn-kly), makes me prefer the remake! That glaring difference is the absence of Martin Short as an over-zealous wedding planner. He might be the best part of the entire situation. It also must be said, though Spencer Tracy was an icon for deserving reasons, that Steve Martin’s narration job was superior to that of Mr. Tracy’s. The truth is that either version provides the same story! I was delighted to see how well the newer model honored the older version.

Funny; I just commented on ‘Born Yesterday’ and it’s remake in your previous post! Agreed, this one too, is a ‘really great’ movie, where I enjoyed the remake as much! Sometimes, Hollywood copies-right.
