King Solomon’s Mines
1950 Nominee
100 Words
A rich woman enlists an experienced explorer to help her find her missing husband in a dangerous expedition! Beth and Allan are at each other’s throats from jump, but the foreshadowing implied by their first encounter where he literally rips her shirt open is rather heated (there’s a rationale for the shirt-ripping, but I’ve completely forgotten what it was). Allan’s sure-footedness annoys Beth, but they change their tunes about one another once Beth succumbs to the jungle heat and gives herself a salon-ready haircut; it’s a bit ridiculous how well she cleans up, given the post-pandemic haircut knowledge we have.
