Keep Your Shirt On

A Streetcar Named Desire
1951 Nominee

100 Words
The moment Marlon sauntered on screen in a shirt slick with sweat, those dismal undershirt sales noted in It Happened One Night shot through the roof and shot Mr. Brando to stardom.

He’s a family favorite, Readers. Though the only one of the ensemble not to snag a golden guy (he ended up with two, chill), his performance sizzles.

I loved this movie as a kid, but as an aging female myself, Blanche’s pathetic turn hits different now. The extraordinary, dark film offers frank discussions about the struggles of womanhood, double standards, lying to preserve one’s character, and Marlon Brando.

Bravo little bit; this might be the best post you’ve written; it offers much to those who have not seen this extraordinary film (everyone who loves movies ‘should’ see it) enough insight in SUCH a brief 100 words, plus your honest assessment of it all. Many of your posts are funnier, or more clever, but this one is worthy of print in a newspaper; It ‘sizzles’!
