Well, I was uncomfortable. A Chinese – I mean, Eurasian – doctor is played by a white lady whose name begets her whiteness: Jennifer Jones. It would be really easy to excuse this as another sign of the times, but it was 1955.

My goodness, World War II didn’t do all that much to mature our sensibility as far as Hollywood was concerned, but that might be the town whose biggest boast of all is that it refuses to grow, emotionally or spiritually. The products (some) are lovely and mature, but the people who live there? Less so, by far and wide.

    Okay, I’m back to the poster attack; she was ‘fascinating’ … he was a ‘correspondent’ (I guess we’re all supposed to be salivating at this point) and they ‘defied 5000 years of tradition…’ LOL! People stepping out of their ‘culturally’ accepted tribes in the name of love is as old as – well, way older than 5000 years.
