Witness for the Prosecution
1957 Nominee
100 Words
It’s not a courtroom drama, but a courtroom romantic comedy – sort of, brought to you by one of my favorites, Agatha Christie. That actor who looks a lot like one of my grandfathers returns for a turn as a cardiac-challenged barrister, charmed by the earnestness of a man accused of a terrible crime.
Though the barrister’s uppity nurse (all of us are uppity, it’s in the job description) tries to curb his enthusiasm for justice, the barrister may crack the case wide open if he remembers to take his pills and can surmise the motive of the accused’s mysterious wife.
