It’s All Greek to Me

The Guns of Navarone
1961 Nominee

100 Words
A multi-lingual man is enlisted to join a mission that involves combat and mountain climbing – which he happens to be excellent at; the scene where his linguistics are displayed is less convincing, even in the capable vocal cords of Gregory Peck.

The men on the mission (and later, two ladies, one of whom is scarred by her experiences and one of whom is the most interesting part of the movie) manage to trick swaths of Nazis (they’re not as smart as they would have you believe).

Legs go missing; scars go missing; and luckily, no one lets anyone else drown.
