The Boy’s in the Band

Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man
1962 Nominee

100 Words
Professor Harold Hill barely has a leg to stand on when he takes the train into River City, Iowa. Why else would you go, though? The man starts whistling a different tune when he runs into an old con friend that, though his own conning has come to an end, is happy to help Harold sing a con man swan song.

To accomplish his goal, Harold has to seduce Marian the librarian, which might not be all that bad, but it is really too bad that the man with the plan is spinning a yarn about an all boys band.
