The Pecking Order

To Kill a Mockingbird
1962 Nominee

100 Words
Atticus Finch must defend a man from the wrong side of the tracks against stacks of generational racism. Atticus’ kiddos confront their own biases in this classic story that has absolutely nothing to do with birds.

While Gregory Peck earned many pecks on the cheek, he may have committed robbery by snatching Oscar from under the ocean blue eyes of Peter O’Toole.

What a fool, to vote for a man out of pity not praise, but it is safe to say that if ever there was an Atticus Finch fit for the screen, Gregory Peck is the best I’ve seen.

Ah, seeing the photo above – this is perhaps where the popular, stylish, male-preppy look began; he’s ‘got the look’. Must have been what enabled him to steal away with that Oscar – as I totally agree with you – it rightfully belonged to O’Toole.
