Lessons in Emotional Maturity with Mr. Feeny

A Thousand Clowns
1965 Nominee

100 Words
Mr. Feeny shows up with a lady to tell Murray that the child welfare board may have to snatch up Murray’s nephew since Murray’s lack of employment suggests that he might not be the most suitable caregiver for kiddo. Murray’s old job, writing jokes for a kids’ show, went stale for him, but this unemployment thing is getting stale for everyone else. As Sandra remarks, “I’d like you too if I was twelve.”

I knew one like that, capital K for Kid; growing up is growing old, but it’s got a hell of a lot of perks to it, Kid.

And collecting birthdays ain’t necessarily growing old lol! (Fools Russian?) Speaking of – I’ve commented in the past on some of your clever alternate titles. Wish I’d picked ‘the best’ for each year – never too late to start, so for 1965 my pick is:

    Fool Russian
