Game Night

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
1966 Nominee

100 Words
It’s not as fun as it sounds when the hosts are both raging alcoholics. And they pre-gamed for their guests! How nice. They’re already sloshed when the guests arrive late at night and it makes for a night that is almost as scary as Halloween itself.

George and Martha, played by real-life problem drinkers Burton and Taylor, antagonize the new biology teacher and his sweet (if mousy and slim-hipped) wife. The games are lame because no one is sure how to play except for the hosts who basically take the couple hostage because there’s an invisible man controlling their finances.

For 1966 I nominated your alternate title: ‘Game Night’ for the Oscar Wilde.
