Queen of Hearts

Anne of the Thousand Days
1969 Nominee

100 Words
It’s got to be more than a thousand, the number of versions and permutations of this story that exist in the historical tomes. While Henry wedded and beheaded anything he felt like, Anne’s story seems to be the one that people gravitate to the most; with appreciation for Natalie Dormer, she was the best part of The Tudors.

It’s relatable to beguile the senses of a desired person, only to have them tire of you with no discernible explanation except that you can’t produce a male heir for them (the old timey version of not having time for a relationship).

But, but, but … it was too great a story! I mean, the KING of land, beheading his QUEEN???? When and what continent had that ever happened before? Let’s just add to the drama – their CHILD became (arguably) the most successful monarch England has ever known (QE1) – after her 1/2 sister had sentenced her imprisonment at the Tower of London! You can’t make this stuff up.

Christ, self-made ”kings” of the house or church or whatever club (stupid) men form… have been cutting off women’s heads for stepping out of line… vague lines.
