This is a true story about a playwright whose longtime friend is terrorized by fascist practices in Vienna on the cusp of World War II.
The problem I had with this was that I don’t buy Jane Fonda as a nervous person (and never will), especially in the face of social injustice. That’s just not her style, (wo)man. That’s not to say that Jane isn’t a great actress (she is) or that the story isn’t compelling (it is); I just think that Jane’s fire can’t be quelled by a role where she plays someone unfamiliar with espionage.
She’s too cool.
