The Pied Piper
1942 Nominee
100 Words
Howard is convinced by two worried parents in the midst of World War II to take them to Paris and get them out of England. The catch? Howard doesn’t like children. So naturally, several of them join the trio on their journey, including a French-speaking Rose, a Nazi-beating Pierre, and a Dutch-speaking Willem. The last to join the party is a girl who isn’t fond of her country’s antics. As the group expands, the demands of the location of the children change from Paris to the United States – which, as it turns out, does not include Rochester among its fifty.
