To be filmed, or not to be filmed? That is the question under consideration when adapting a play to a movie. While one could argue that this makes Shakespeare more accessible, could the Bard bear to see a play depicted in the way it was not intended to be performed? Perhaps the ghost of William Shakespeare would torment us all if he could.
Olivier was a mighty talent, but I don’t know that this is my preference for Shakespearian viewing.
It might sound funny Readers, but nothing captures the energy of the theater yet and translates it perfectly to screen.
