Are You Threatening Me?

All the President’s Men
1976 Nominee

100 Words
In the film Beavis and Butthead Do America – not a Best Picture nominee – Beavis as his alter ego Cornholio passes by a portrait of Richard Nixon and asks the portrait if it is threatening him. It’s one of many strange thoughts that crossed my mind on this viewing of this actual Best Picture nominee.

The Watergate scandal is when many people began questioning the validity of information bestowed on us about the government and the questions haven’t stopped (or been answered sufficiently).

Of course they bugged us.
Of course they did.

Does this make Hoffman and Redford Beavis and Butthead?

My infatuation with Bob Woodward lives on. Since seeing this movie, I have followed his amazing career as a journalist, panelist, speaker and writer. His takes on former presidents and – especially the current president – are ‘write’ on. Not one of them has fooled this guy. FYI – he’s from Wheaton Il. Oh yes – the movie! Best scenes are Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) scribbling notes on toilet paper. The editor of the Washington Post – Ben Bradlee, played by Jason Robards who won that Oscar for best supporting actor, is as good a reason as any to watch this great film.
